Real-Time Responding Map

In the world of voluntary and part-time emergency services, responding to your pager and arriving at the station only to find you’re short of crew is all too common. The burning questions follow: Are other crew members on their way? How long will they be?

Traditionally, this involves a flurry of phone calls and text messages to determine who’s en route and their estimated arrival time – not ideal when every second counts.

If only there was a more efficient and safer way to coordinate this information…

Introducing iFire’s Real-Time Responding Support

In our latest update, which will be hitting the app stores shortly, we’ve added a game-changing feature: a real-time map of responding crew members that updates every 5 seconds.

This new capability allows crew to see each other’s locations and estimated time of arrival (ETA) to the station – eliminating the need for distracting calls or texts while driving.

How It Works

When you change your status in iFire to “responding” (or “delayed but responding”), your phone automatically updates the iFire service with your location. Crew members already at the station can then open the responding map to view:

- Where all responding crew members are located

- Each person’s estimated arrival time

- Real-time updates as situations change

Privacy and Control

Your location is only shared while you have an active responding status. Your privacy is protected through automatic safeguards:

- Location sharing stops immediately when you reset your status

- The system automatically resets after 15 minutes of inactivity

- No location data is stored once your responding status ends

We hope this new feature helps streamline your emergency response coordination and keeps everyone safer on the road! 🚨
